Category I includes philosophy, economics, law, education, literature excluding literary and arts programs, history and management. Category II includes science, engineering and agriculture. Category III includes literature in literary and arts programs and medicine.

III. Eligibility

1. Be healthy, hold a valid foreign passport and comply with Chinese laws and regulations and university rules.
2. Doctoral applicants must hold a master’s degree and generally be no older than 40. Master’s applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and generally be no older than 35.
3. Academic results, academic level and language proficiency must meet the chosen program’s admission requirements.
4. Have good character, no illegal or criminal conduct or adverse credit records in the home country or China, reliable financial support and a guarantor for affairs in China.

IV. Application dates

The deadline is April 1 each year.

V. Required documents

1. Beijing Technology and Business University International Student Admission Application Form, printed directly from the online system at http://admission.btbu.edu.cn. Be sure to upload a photograph.
2. Curriculum vitae.
3. Certified highest qualification certificate and transcripts. Doctoral applicants must provide both master’s and undergraduate transcripts.
4. Copy of the information page of a valid ordinary passport.
5. Foreigner Physical Examination Record, downloadable from the BTBU online system. Results are valid for 6 months; schedule the examination accordingly.
6. Chinese-taught degree applicants must provide an original or copy of HSK Level 5 or new HSK Level 4 at 210 or above. Special document exemptions are handled according to circumstances.
7. For fully English-taught programs, non-native-English applicants must submit TOEFL iBT 70 or above, IELTS 5.5 or above, a score certificate or other English proficiency evidence.
8. Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form. BTBU’s CSC agency number is 10011.
9. Two recommendation letters.
10. A personal study plan of more than 400 words.
11. A draft dissertation or research paper.
12. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English require certified Chinese or English translations.

VI. Application procedure

1. Apply to BTBU and submit documents.
2. BTBU reviews them and arranges an interview.
3. BTBU recommends eligible applicants to the China Scholarship Council.
4. The China Scholarship Council reviews the recommendations, notifies BTBU of results and issues admission documents.
5. BTBU informs applicants and mails admission documents.
