Basic Requirements

1. Non-Chinese citizenship and good health.
2. Qualifications and age:
   • Undergraduate: high school graduation, excellent results and no older than 25, or no older than 30 for Tianjin Municipal Government Scholarship applicants.
   • Master’s: bachelor’s degree and no older than 35.
   • Chinese-language visiting study: high school graduation and no older than 35.

Application Dates

Apply to the International Exchange Office, generally March 1-June 15.

Documents

Applicants must truthfully submit:

• Admission application form for study in China.
• Notarized highest qualification, with notarized Chinese or English translations for other languages.
• Photocopies of notarized transcripts, with notarized Chinese or English translations for other languages.
• Study or research plan of at least 800 words, in Chinese or English.
• Two professor or associate professor recommendations in Chinese or English for master’s applicants.
• Copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, retaining the original, downloadable from http://www.csc.edu.cn/Laihua/ and completed in Chinese or English, plus the original blood test report. Complete all listed examinations. Missing items, attending physician signature, hospital seal or a sealed applicant photograph invalidate it. Results are valid for 6 months; schedule accordingly.
• Passport copy.

Scholarship Categories and Costs

Full scholarship:

Exemption from registration, tuition, textbooks and accommodation, plus living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance.

Partial Scholarship 1:

Tuition and accommodation exemption. Pay:

1. Application and registration: RMB 400.
2. Textbooks: RMB 500/year.
3. Medical insurance: RMB 800/year.

Partial Scholarship 2:

Tuition exemption. Pay:

1. Application and registration: RMB 400.
2. Textbooks: RMB 500/year.
3. Medical insurance: RMB 800/year.
4. Accommodation: RMB 70/person/day for a single room or RMB 35/person/day for a twin room, with bathroom, furniture, bedding, air conditioning, television and internet.

Partial Scholarship 3:

Accommodation exemption. Pay:

1. Application and registration: RMB 400.
2. Tuition:
   • Undergraduate humanities: RMB 15,500/year.
   • Undergraduate sciences: RMB 16,300/year.
   • Master’s humanities: RMB 20,400/year.
   • Master’s sciences: RMB 20,400/year.
   • General visiting Chinese study: RMB 12,800/year.
   • General visiting humanities study: RMB 14,800/year.
   • General visiting science study: RMB 15,500/year.
3. Textbooks: RMB 500/year.
4. Medical insurance: RMB 800/year.

Admission and Notification

The university mails the Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China, JW202, by July 30. Applicants use these to apply for a study visa at a Chinese embassy.
