Fujian Medical University Scholarship for Outstanding Self-Funded International Students

1. Coverage and amounts

To encourage self-funded international students’ initiative and motivation and develop students who understand and are friendly toward China, obey the law, value the university and seek academic progress, Fujian Medical University established this scholarship. No more than 18% of self-funded international students in a program’s year group receive awards: first prize, 3%, RMB 7000/year; second prize, 6%, RMB 5000/year; third prize, 9%, RMB 3000/year.

2. Available programs

These rules apply to registered full-time, self-funded international students.

3. Eligibility

(1) Registered full-time, self-funded international undergraduates in their first year or above.

(2) Comply with the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and university and Overseas Education College rules.

(3) Rank within the top 60% of their year or class in the annual comprehensive assessment.

Students cannot participate in that academic year’s selection if they:

(1) Receive a warning or more severe sanction for violating university rules during the academic year.

(2) Accumulate 20 or more class hours of absence in one semester.

(3) Fail one or more compulsory course assessments during the academic year.

(4) Owe tuition, accommodation, insurance or other fees.

(5) Have entered the clinical internship stage, after which they no longer participate in this scholarship.

4. Application period

Within three months after the start of each academic year.

5. Procedure

(1) Submit a written application to the student adviser.

(2) The adviser verifies eligibility and reports to the Overseas Education College Student Award Review Leading Group.

(3) That group conducts a preliminary review based on annual comprehensive results. After a public announcement within the college for 3 working days without objections, it reports to the office of the university’s International Student Award Review Leading Group.

(4) That office submits recommendations to the university leading group for approval. Results are announced after university-wide public notice for 3 working days without objections.
