Chongqing University China-AUN Scholarship

I. Categories and duration

1. Master’s and doctoral students.
2. Master’s study lasts 2-3 academic years; doctoral study 3-4. Scholarship duration matches standard program length. Chinese-taught recipients below the specialist study requirement of HSK Level 4 or above must first undertake 1 year of Chinese preparation after arrival and pass before degree study. Their scholarship duration increases by 1 year.

II. Coverage

Tuition, accommodation, living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance. Ask the AUN Secretariat for details.

III. Application agency and dates

Agency: ASEAN University Network (AUN) Secretariat.

Generally early January-early April. Confirm exact dates with the secretariat.

IV. Eligibility

1. Non-Chinese citizens of ASEAN member states in good health.
2. Master’s applicants: bachelor’s degree, no older than 35. Doctoral applicants: master’s degree, no older than 40.

V. Procedure

1. Apply to the AUN Secretariat and obtain nomination eligibility.
2. Contact Chongqing University and obtain a pre-admission notice.
3. Access the Chinese Government Scholarship information system via or , click the student online application icon, complete and submit the application, and print the Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form. Obtain system instructions and agency numbers from the AUN Secretariat.
4. Submit documents to the secretariat within the required period.

Note: CSC does not accept direct individual applications. It may adjust university choices for applicants without pre-admission notices.

VI. Documents

1. Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form in Chinese or English.
2. Notarized highest qualification certificate, with notarized Chinese or English translations for documents in other languages. Current students must submit proof of enrollment.
3. Academic transcripts, with notarized Chinese or English translations where needed.
4. Study or research plan for China in Chinese or English, at least 800 words.
5. Recommendations from two professors or associate professors in Chinese or English.
6. Copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, retaining the original. The standard form issued by China’s health and quarantine authorities is available at or and must be completed in English. Complete every required examination. Forms with missing items, no personal photograph, no stamp across the photograph, or no physician and hospital signatures and stamps are invalid. Results are valid for 6 months.
7. Copy of Chongqing University pre-admission notice, if obtained.
8. Copy of HSK report, if obtained.

Bind documents in that order at the upper-left corner. Documents are not returned regardless of admission results.

VII. Admission and notification

1. CSC checks eligibility. Ineligible applications or documents not meeting requirements are not accepted.
2. CSC forwards approved documents to relevant universities. It may adjust the chosen university, program, category and duration according to funding requirements, host capacity, study duration and applicant circumstances. The university determines admission. Documents with Chongqing University pre-admission notices go directly there for confirmation.
3. Applicants whose admission is confirmed by a host and approved by CSC receive scholarship funding. Each recipient may hold only one Chinese Government Scholarship program.
4. Before July 31, CSC mails the admission list, Admission Notices and Visa Application for Study in China forms (JW201) to the AUN Secretariat for forwarding.
5. After arrival, recipients may not change the university, program or duration in the Admission Notice.
6. Scholarship eligibility is not retained if recipients cannot arrive within the admission period.
