III. Eligibility

1. Be a citizen of a Belt and Road country, healthy, with a valid foreign passport, and comply with Chinese laws and university rules.
2. Doctoral applicants must hold a master’s degree and generally be no older than 45. Master’s applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree and generally be no older than 35.
3. Academic results, academic level and language proficiency must meet the chosen program’s admission requirements.
4. Have good character, no illegal or criminal conduct or adverse credit record in the home country or China, reliable finances and a guarantor for affairs in China.

Deadline: June 15 each year.

V. Documents

1. BTBU International Student Admission Application Form, printed directly from http://admission.btbu.edu.cn. Be sure to upload a photograph.
2. Curriculum vitae.
3. Certified highest qualification certificate and transcripts. Doctoral applicants provide both master’s and undergraduate transcripts.
4. Copy of the information page of a valid ordinary passport.
5. Foreigner Physical Examination Record, downloadable from the BTBU online system. Results are valid for 6 months; schedule accordingly.
6. Chinese-taught degree applicants: original or copy of HSK Level 5 or new HSK Level 4 at 210 or above. Special document exemptions are handled according to circumstances.
7. Fully English-taught programs: non-native-English applicants provide TOEFL iBT 70 or above, IELTS 5.5 or above, a result certificate or other English proficiency evidence.
8. Two recommendations.
9. Personal study plan of more than 400 words.
10. Draft dissertation or research paper, doctoral applicants only.
11. All documents not in Chinese or English require certified Chinese or English translations.

VI. Procedure

1. Apply to BTBU and submit documents.
2. BTBU reviews them and arranges an interview.
3. BTBU notifies applicants and mails admission documents.
