Eligibility

  1. Normally registered international students in their second year or above, whether publicly funded or self-funded. Undergraduate transfer students must have studied at the university for at least one year, and non-degree students for at least one semester.
  2. Academic Achievement Award: Undergraduates with good results or awards in Chinese or international competitions. Postgraduates must have good results and, in the previous academic year, published a paper as first or second author in a Chinese or international core journal, presented a paper at an academic conference in China or abroad, or delivered a principal address.
  3. Activity Award: Enrolled international students who actively organize or participate in university or school arts, sporting and public-interest activities at least twice and make outstanding contributions.

Amount: RMB 5000.

Applicants are generally ineligible if, during the assessment year:

  1. They have unlifted penalties for legal or disciplinary violations, or receive formal criticism from the university or their school or department.
  2. They requested leave, retained student status or extended study in the previous academic year. Students not in China in the previous year may not participate.
  3. They failed any examination or assessment in required or elective courses, including general electives; such students normally cannot receive a scholarship.

Notes:

  1. Students may apply for different individual scholarships but may ultimately receive only one.
  2. Awards remain vacant if nobody meets the criteria.
  3. Specific requirements and quotas follow that year’s notice.
