II. Categories, duration and language

1. Master’s and doctoral students.
2. Master’s: 3 academic years. Doctoral: 4 academic years. Funding matches the duration determined at admission, including specialist study and Chinese preparation.
3. Programs are generally Chinese-taught; some may be English-taught.

III. Coverage

1. Tuition and accommodation waivers.

2. Monthly living allowances:

   Undergraduate: RMB 2,500.

   Master’s: RMB 3,000.

   Doctoral: RMB 3,500.

3. Comprehensive medical insurance.

IV. Eligibility

1. Non-Chinese citizens holding valid foreign passports.
2. Healthy, of good character and compliant with Chinese laws and university rules.
3. Master’s: bachelor’s degree, no older than 35. Doctoral: master’s degree, no older than 40.
4. English-taught programs have no Chinese requirement. Applicants from non-native-English countries need TOTEL at least 90 or IELTS at least 6.5, as named in the source.

V. Procedure

1. The university encourages applicants to contact a relevant supervisor in advance. Information: http://sie.hebut.edu.cn/a/liuxuehegong/liuxueshengpeiyang/. If accepted, ask the supervisor to complete the International Student Supervisor Acceptance Letter, downloadable at http://sie.hebut.edu.cn/a/xiazaizhongxin/63.html, and send the scan to the applicant.
2. Complete CSC’s online application at http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org. Agency number: 10080.
3. Also apply at , uploading the acceptance letter scan.

VI. Documents

1. Completed supervisor acceptance letter, with applicant details, supervisor and school leader signatures, and school stamp, all mandatory.
2. Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form in Chinese or English.
3. Notarized highest qualification certificate. Current students also provide enrollment certification. Documents not in Chinese or English require notarized Chinese or English translations.
4. Transcripts, with notarized Chinese or English translations where needed.
5. Study and research plan for China in Chinese or English, at least 800 words.
6. Recommendations from two professors or associate professors in Chinese or English.
7. Music applicants: CD of personal work. Fine arts: CD containing 2 sketches, 2 color paintings and 2 other works.
8. Copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form, downloadable at http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org, completed in English. Complete all examinations. Missing items, no photograph, no stamp across it, or missing physician and hospital signatures and stamps invalidate the form. Results are valid for 6 months.
9. HSK result copy, if available.

VII. Admission and notification

1. Applications are reviewed competitively.
2. Before July 2018, the university mails Admission Notices, visa forms and related documents. Results are available at . Emails asking for admission results are not answered.
