Shandong University Scholarship for New International Students

The Shandong University Scholarship for New International Students is established for outstanding new international students and supports their successful completion of studies at Shandong University.

I. Eligibility

(1) Hold foreign nationality and a foreign passport, be friendly toward China, and be physically and mentally healthy.

(2) Comply with the Chinese government’s laws and regulations, demonstrate good conduct and meet Shandong University’s admission requirements.

(3) Study diligently and achieve excellent academic results.

(4) Not simultaneously receive any other scholarship or financial support.

II. Funding Arrangements

Recipients must pay tuition and accommodation fees on time. Funding is paid as a scholarship and is not used to offset tuition or accommodation fees.

III. Funding Standards

SDU Outstanding Scholarship (first class)	A	A scholarship equal to the applicable tuition fees for a period of at least two years, including two years, up to completion of degree study, together with a monthly living allowance for the same period as the scholarship (implemented with reference to the China Scholarship Council accommodation standards).
SDU Outstanding Scholarship (first class)	B	A scholarship equal to the applicable tuition fees for a period of at least two years, including two years, up to completion of degree study.
SDU Excellence Scholarship (second class)	A	A scholarship equal to 50%–100% of the first year’s degree-program tuition, plus a scholarship equal to 30% of tuition for the remaining years of study.
SDU Excellence Scholarship (second class)	B	A scholarship equal to 50%–100% of the first year’s degree-program tuition.
SDU Endeavor Scholarship (third class)		A scholarship equal to 10%–20% of annual program tuition, plus a scholarship equal to the registration fee.

IV. Application Period

February–May each year.

V. Application Method

Send scanned copies of the Shandong University Scholarship Application Form for New International Students, academic transcript and two recommendation letters to apply@sdu.edu.cn. Mail the original application materials to the International Student Admissions Office, Department of International Affairs, Shandong University (Room C301, Mingde Building, Shandong University, 27 Shanda South Road, Jinan, China).

VI. Evaluation

Initial award evaluation results are announced each June, and the eligibility of existing recipients is reviewed.

VII. Scholarship Payment

The university pays the scholarship for the academic year to each recipient in a single payment before November 30 each year.

VIII. Other Provisions

Scholarship eligibility will not be retained for recipients unable to report to the university on time because of illness or other personal reasons. Scholarships will be recovered from applicants who submit false materials or engage in fraud.

IX. Any of the following during the scholarship period results in cancellation of the following year’s scholarship eligibility:

(1) Failure to pay tuition or other required fees without justification.

(2) Receiving an academic warning or a warning of dismissal.

(3) Violating Chinese laws and regulations or university rules and receiving a disciplinary penalty.

(4) Other circumstances that the scholarship evaluation panel considers unsuitable for continued receipt of the scholarship.
