Chongqing University Chongqing Municipal People's Government Mayor Scholarship for International Students

To attract outstanding international students to study in Chongqing, the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government has established the Mayor Scholarship for International Students.

Eligible Applicants

Non-Chinese citizens intending to pursue master’s or doctoral degrees in Chongqing.

Application Requirements

1. Be in good health and pass a medical examination at a legally recognized medical institution in China.

2. Doctoral applicants must hold a master’s degree, have excellent academic results and be no older than 40.

3. Master’s applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, have excellent academic results and be no older than 35.

4. Recipients of any Chinese government scholarships cannot apply for the Mayor Scholarship.

Scholarship Standards

The scholarship amounts are:

1. RMB 35000 per doctoral student per academic year.

2. RMB 30000 per master’s student per academic year.

The funding period cannot exceed the standard duration of the relevant degree program. Recipients must pay application, tuition, dormitory, insurance and other related fees themselves.

Application Materials

Applicants must truthfully complete and submit the following materials, all in triplicate:

1. Chongqing Municipal People’s Government Mayor Scholarship Application Form for International Students.

2. Notarized proof of highest educational qualification and academic transcripts. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must include notarized Chinese or English translations. Applicants currently enrolled at a university in China must also submit proof of enrollment and a transcript issued by their current university.

3. A study and research plan in China, written in Chinese or English.

4. Two recommendation letters. Master’s and doctoral applicants must provide letters from professors at their most recent graduating institution or from their most recent employer, written in Chinese or English.

5. A copy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

6. A copy of the passport.

Deadline

April 15, 2018

Application Method

Before the deadline, submit materials by mail or in person to Chongqing University’s International Student Admissions Office. The university collects and reviews the materials and submits them to the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. The commission does not accept applications submitted directly by students.
