The Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Program Scholarship for International Students rewards international students in Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture), taught entirely in English, and Clinical Medicine Integrating Chinese and Western Medicine, taught entirely in English.

I. Applicant eligibility

  1. Self-financed international undergraduate students in years 1–5 of either program.
  2. First-year self-financed international undergraduates in these programs may apply directly.
  3. Except for first-year students, applicants must have excellent conduct during study and actively participate in university-organized activities.
  4. Except for first-year students, applicants must have completed 100% of the compulsory course credits prescribed in the previous academic year’s guiding teaching plan. Transfer students are exempt during their first academic year after transfer.
  5. This scholarship may not be held simultaneously with Chinese Government Scholarships, except the Chinese Government Scholarship for Outstanding Self-financed Students, or Shanghai Government Scholarships.

II. Award amounts

  1. Category A: Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture), RMB 12000, available for up to 5 years.
  2. Category B: Clinical Medicine Integrating Chinese and Western Medicine, RMB 8000, available for up to 5 years.

III. Implementation procedure

  1. At the beginning of each academic year, the International Students Office reviews and publicly announces the list of recipients for that year. The public announcement must last at least 3 working days.
  2. Lists receiving no objections are reviewed by the college/department and published by the International Students Office.
  3. Scholarships are paid only after students pay the full tuition for the relevant year. Payment is suspended during a suspension of studies; missed payments during suspension are not paid retroactively. Scholarship eligibility resumes when students return to study.

If, before payment, a student is disciplined for violating Chinese laws and regulations or university rules, withdraws for any reason, or fails to cooperate with university assessment and review, scholarship eligibility is canceled.

IV. Other matters

These revised implementation rules take effect from September 2017 and apply to the 2017 intake onward in the fully English-taught Traditional Chinese Medicine (Acupuncture) and Clinical Medicine Integrating Chinese and Western Medicine programs.
