Northeast Forestry University President’s Scholarship for Outstanding International Students

I. Scholarship coverage and standards

To implement the principles of the national conference on international student administration, further develop international education, and meet the relevant national quality-accreditation indicators for study in China, the university has established the Northeast Forestry University President’s Scholarship for Outstanding International Students. It encourages and supports more outstanding international students to study at the university and enhances its international atmosphere and influence. Selection follows the principles of fairness, impartiality, openness and merit.

The total annual scholarship budget is RMB 300000. Selection takes place once each year, with more candidates than award places.

1. Scholarship categories

The scholarship covers 3 student categories: undergraduate, master’s and doctoral international students. Recipients may comprise no more than 30% of the university’s self-financed international students.

There are 3 award levels:

Scholarship duration is 1 year.

2. Available programs

All programs at Northeast Forestry University are eligible.

3. Applicant eligibility

The scholarship is available to outstanding self-financed international students applying for or already pursuing degrees at the university, who are friendly toward China, have excellent academic performance and character, and are in good physical and mental health.

Applicants must be foreign nationals holding valid foreign passports. Current students must rank among the top 30% in their discipline or program in academic results and comprehensive assessment, demonstrate good conduct and have no violations of Chinese laws and regulations or university rules.

Applicants must not receive scholarship funding from the Chinese Government, other countries or organizations.

4. Application period

March 1–June 30 every year.

5. Application procedure and channel

Submit a written scholarship application to the university under these rules, with 2 sets of application materials in Chinese or English.

6. Required application materials

(1) New student applicants

1. Northeast Forestry University President’s Scholarship Application Form for International Students.
2. New students applying to study at the university must download the President’s Scholarship Application Form for Outstanding International Students from the College of International Exchange website, complete it and submit it with their admission materials to the International Students Affairs Office.
3. Proof of the highest educational qualification and degree. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English require notarized Chinese or English translations.
4. Original notarized academic transcripts and photocopies.
5. Recommendation letters in Chinese or English from 2 professors or associate professors at the institution from which the applicant graduated.
6. A study plan for China.
7. A copy of the passport’s valid information page.
8. Published research papers, awards and relevant supporting materials.
9. IELTS, TOEFL or HSK score certificates from the last 2 years.

(2) Current student applicants

1. Northeast Forestry University President’s Scholarship Application Form for International Students.
2. Current students may submit the completed President’s Scholarship Application Form for Outstanding International Students to their college or department. After review, it is forwarded to the International Students Affairs Office.
3. Transcripts issued by the Academic Affairs Office or Graduate School.
4. A recommendation letter from the college or supervisor.
5. A personal recommendation statement of approximately 500 Chinese characters/words.
6. Research papers published during study, awards and relevant supporting materials.
