Founded in 1956, Dalian Jiaotong University is the only university in Northeast China distinguished by a focus on rail transit. Within the industry, it is known as “the cradle of engineers for China’s rail transit equipment manufacturing industry.”

The university has two campuses, Shahekou and Lüshunkou, covering a total of 821000 square meters, with a total building floor area of 546000 square meters. Its teaching and research equipment is valued at RMB 464 million. Its library holds 1.3487 million printed volumes, 1.5454 million e-books, and 26227 Chinese and foreign electronic journal titles.

The university is a host institution for Chinese Government Scholarship students. It has established inter-university partnerships with more than 100 universities and educational and research institutions in 30 countries and regions. It has 1 Sino-foreign joint education institution and 3 Sino-foreign joint education programs.
