Bohai University

Founded in February 1950, Bohai University is a comprehensive university operated by the Liaoning Provincial Government. It is located in Jinzhou, Liaoning, a heroic city and a place of beauty beside the Bohai Sea. It is qualified to educate international students receiving Chinese Government Scholarships and International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarships.

The university covers more than 1.5 million square meters, with a total building floor area of over 600000 square meters. It has 20 secondary-level schools, 53 undergraduate programs admitting students, 17 first-level disciplines authorized to award master’s degrees, and 18 professional master’s degree authorization fields. These cover economics, law, education, literature, history, philosophy, science, engineering, agriculture, management and art. It has more than 23000 full-time master’s and undergraduate students.

The university has over 1300 full-time teachers, including more than 200 professors and over 630 doctorate holders. It has 1 approved National Huang Danian-style University Faculty Team. Nearly one hundred staff hold distinctions including second-prize recipients of the National Science and Technology Progress Awards, National High-Level Talent Special Support Program recipients, National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars recipients, national Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talent Project recipients, National Outstanding Teachers, recipients of special State Council allowances, Ministry of Education New Century Excellent Talent Support Program recipients, Liaoning Climbing Scholars, Liaoning Distinguished Professor Support Program recipients, outstanding talents, leading science and technology innovation talents, distinguished teachers and top young talents under the Xingliao Talent Program, Liaoning outstanding experts, Liaoning University Outstanding Talent Support Program recipients, Liaoning academician reserve training project recipients, recipients at the hundred and thousand levels of Liaoning’s Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talent Project, provincial outstanding science and technology talents, provincially distinguished teachers, provincial program leaders, and provincial outstanding teachers.

The university has 24 programs selected for the Ministry of Education’s Double Ten-Thousand Plan for first-class undergraduate program development, including 11 national and 13 provincial first-class program development sites. It has 18 nationally or provincially distinctive, model or pilot programs. 9 teacher education programs have passed Level II accreditation from the Ministry of Education.

Over the past five years, students have received more than 9200 provincial or higher awards in innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, including over 600 national awards. They have received 216 provincial or higher awards in the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition, including 32 provincial gold awards and 9 national awards. 1136 university student innovation and entrepreneurship training projects have been approved at provincial level or above. 3 such projects passed approval under the Communist Youth League Central Committee and Liaoning Provincial Committee’s 2023 University Student Entrepreneurship Support Plan and received innovation and entrepreneurship funding.

The university has partnerships with universities in more than 30 countries and regions and implements joint postgraduate training with Chinese and overseas co-supervisors. It has a Sino-foreign joint education program with the Warsaw University of Life Sciences in Poland. The Confucius Institute at the University of Burundi was recognized as an Outstanding Correspondent Confucius Institute in the Global Model Confucius Institute initiative. Teachers at the Confucius Institute at the University of Bangui received the Academic Palms honor from the President of the Central African Republic. The university has educated a cumulative 1000 international students from nearly 80 countries, contributing to the strengthening of Liaoning’s Study in China brand.

The university has comprehensive infrastructure. Its library holds more than 3 million books, and its equipment fully meets teaching and research needs. Its campus is beautiful, with lush trees. It was named one of Liaoning’s Most Beautiful Campuses in 2019 and a Liaoning Civilized Campus for 2021–2023. It is a National Model Institution in Greening, a Liaoning Model Institution in Greening, a Liaoning Demonstration School for Campus Greening, a Liaoning Safe and Civilized Campus, and a Liaoning Demonstration Base for Ecological and Cultural Education.
