Renmin University of China

Renmin University of China is the first new-style regular university founded by the Communist Party of China. It is directly administered by the Ministry of Education and jointly developed by the ministry and Beijing Municipality. It is a national “985 Project” and “211 Project” priority development university and was among the first institutions selected for the national “World-Class Universities and First-Class Disciplines” development list in 2017. It currently has 8 national key first-level disciplines and 8 national key second-level disciplines, ranking first nationally in the humanities and social sciences in both counts. In the fourth national discipline evaluation results published by the Ministry of Education in 2017, it had 14 Category A disciplines. Theoretical economics, applied economics, law, sociology, Marxist theory, journalism and communication, statistics, business administration and public administration were rated A+; philosophy and political science were rated A; and Chinese language and literature, Chinese history, and library, information and archives management were rated A-. Its number of A+ disciplines ranked fourth among Chinese universities. In the Ministry of Education’s first-round “Double First-Class” development evaluation, its 14 first-class disciplines performed excellently and were again selected for the second-round list.
