Xinjiang Normal University

Xinjiang Normal University is a key university in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, located in Urumqi at the center of Eurasia. It is known as a poetic institution of rich humanities along the Belt and Road. It has 22 schools and 58 undergraduate programs; master’s degrees in 16 first-level and 96 second-level disciplines; and 7 professional master’s authorizations, including education and teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages. It is among the first national demonstration bases for international education in China, a Chinese member institution of Shanghai Cooperation Organization University, a Central Asian Base for International Chinese Language Education, a Xinjiang Base for International Chinese Language Education and an Overseas Chinese Affairs Office Chinese Language Education Base. It has established 3 Confucius Institutes in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, with Chinese teaching sites at 44 higher education institutions in 11 countries including Kazakhstan. Hanban named it an Outstanding Chinese Host Institution for Confucius Institutes.

Its international education system encompasses master’s and undergraduate degrees, long- and short-term Chinese, business Chinese and HSK preparation courses. It is a test center for the Business Chinese Test (BCT) and Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK), and receives international students supported by more than ten scholarship types, including Chinese Government, Confucius Institute, overseas Chinese language education, Xinjiang Government and corporate scholarships. It has cultural practice bases with 6 Urumqi enterprises and institutions and professional practice bases with 18 organizations. Every year, many international graduates undertake company internships and gain employment.

All university programs are open to international students, who may choose according to their study interests. Dedicated international student teaching facilities, residences, a cafe and dining hall provide multifunctional spaces for learning, accommodation and leisure.
