Guilin University of Electronic Technology

Guilin University of Electronic Technology is a public university and one of China’s four universities of electronic science and technology. It is jointly supported by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and is a key development university of the autonomous region. Founded in 1960, it focuses on engineering, with distinctive strengths in electronic information and national defense industries, interdisciplinary integration and coordinated development, and influence within and beyond Guangxi.

It has four campuses—Huajiang, Jinjiling, Liuhe Road and Beihai—in the world-famous tourist destination of Guilin and the Silver Beach area of Beihai, Guangxi, known for the “finest beach under heaven.” The campuses cover 4153 mu. It has 19 schools and teaching departments and a graduate school. Its disciplines and programs cover 7 categories: engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law and art. It has 70 undergraduate programs, 26 master’s programs covering 134 specialist research directions, and 4 doctoral degree authorization fields. It has more than 2900 active faculty and staff and over 40600 students of various categories. Graduate employment has remained at least 93% for successive years. Its Huajiang Campus library is among China’s largest single university library buildings, with a floor area of 45000 square meters. It holds nearly 2 million books, 34172 Chinese and foreign periodical titles including electronic journals, and 90 Chinese and foreign databases. It has advanced network information platforms and comprehensive public services. Its educational facilities rank among Guangxi’s best and among the advanced institutions of its kind nationally.

It has good partnerships with over 80 universities and academic institutions across Asia, Europe, the Americas, Oceania and Africa. It offers four English-taught programs: Business Administration, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Civil Engineering. Over the past ten years, it has sent more than 1200 students overseas and admitted over 3000 international students. In 2018, it had 1011 international student enrollments, with students from 39 countries and regions. It also has Sino-Irish, Sino-British and other international exchange programs. It is a host and training institution for the Ministry of Education’s Chinese Government Scholarship, Silk Road Scholarship, Sino-US Degree Student Special Scholarship and Guangxi Government Scholarship for ASEAN Students, receiving international doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s students.

It participates in the Ministry of Education’s Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program and the National University Student Innovative Experiment Program and is a Ministry of Education demonstration institution for College English teaching reform. It trains national defense students and preparatory students who are children of border-defense military personnel from across the armed forces. Its university student innovation and practice base was named a National Youth Science and Technology Innovation Demonstration Base by the Communist Youth League Central Committee and All-China Youth Federation. It was recognized as an Advanced Institution in Implementing the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program for 2012-2014. Students have repeatedly achieved excellent results in national electronic design, innovative design and mathematical modeling competitions, including the Sony Cup, the highest award in the National Undergraduate Electronic Design Contest. Its science park was approved as a National University Science Park in 2014. It has 1 Guangxi platform under the National Public Service Platform for Software and Integrated Circuits, 1 Ministry of Education key laboratory and 9 Guangxi key laboratories.
