Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications

Founded in 1950, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications is one of several posts and telecommunications universities strategically established and supported by the state. Jointly supported by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and Chongqing Municipality, it is a distinctive, high-level teaching and research university with strong advantages and important influence in information and communications. It is located in Chongqing’s Nanshan Scenic Area, covers 3800 mu and has 24000 students, including 3200 postgraduate students. It has more than 1700 faculty and staff and has appointed over 30 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering and countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Poland and India, along with more than 150 adjunct or honorary professors. It has 16 schools, 3 research institutes, 53 undergraduate programs, 38 master’s programs and 2 doctoral programs.

It pursues openness in education and values international cooperation and exchange. It conducts academic exchange, joint education and joint development of research bases with more than 50 universities in countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, Canada, Germany, South Korea and Singapore and in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. It cooperates with international IT leaders including Hewlett-Packard, Cisco, Microsoft and Oracle. It admits international students receiving Chinese Government Scholarships, Chongqing Mayor Scholarships and Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications President Scholarships, self-funded international students, and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and overseas Chinese communities. Nearly 600 international students from 58 countries currently study here. It has repeatedly hosted or organized high-level international academic conferences and welcomed foreign political leaders, business leaders and renowned experts and scholars for lectures and visits.

It pursues independent innovation and is a National Advanced Collective in Information Industry Science and Technology Innovation and a National High-Tech Industrialization Demonstration Project Base. It is known as “the birthplace of digital communications in China” and “the cradle of China’s information and communications talent.” Its research is internationally leading in communications networks and testing technology, next-generation broadband wireless mobile communications, computer networks and information security, intelligent information processing, industrial Ethernet and sensor networks, advanced production and information technology, microelectronics, and application-specific chip design. It has undertaken more than 1000 national, provincial and ministerial research projects and received international technological invention awards and National Science and Technology Progress Awards. Its main research performance indicators place it among the top one hundred Chinese universities.
