Shenyang University of Technology is located in Shenyang, a modern central city in Northeast China. Shenyang is the region’s political, economic, financial, cultural, transport, information and tourism center, with four distinct seasons, attractive scenery and a rich cultural heritage. It is also China’s most important heavy industrial base, known as the “Ruhr of the East.” In the Mandarin-speaking region, it is an ideal place to learn Chinese.

The university is an engineering-led multidisciplinary research and applied university covering eight categories: engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, philosophy and art. Founded in 1949, it consists of three campus areas: Central Campus and the National University Science Park in Shenyang, Liaoning, and Liaoyang Campus in Liaoyang, Liaoning. It covers 1.5899 million square meters and is authorized to award bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. It has 1 national second-level key discipline in Electrical Machines and Apparatus and 4 priority first-class disciplines under Liaoning’s first-class university initiative: Electrical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Instrument Science and Technology. These four disciplines also have postdoctoral research stations. It has 5 first-level doctoral degree authorization fields and 13 first-level master’s degree authorization fields. It offers 5 professional degree categories: Master of Engineering, Master of Accounting, MBA, Master of Engineering Management (MEM), and Master of Finance. Engineering covers 13 fields. In 2010, it was approved as a Ministry of Education pilot institution for comprehensive reform of professional postgraduate education. Mechanical Engineering was recognized as a National Distinctive Field in Master of Engineering Education.

It has more than 30000 undergraduate and postgraduate students of various categories and over 1300 faculty, with strong teaching resources and many distinguished teachers. Its research achievements are substantial. It has established a national engineering technology research center, a Ministry of Education engineering technology center, a Ministry of Education key laboratory jointly supported by ministry and province, and a provincial university key research base in the humanities and social sciences.

It has long-term, stable inter-university partnerships with 49 institutions in countries and regions including the United States, Russia, Japan, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia, South Korea, Finland and Taiwan and operates several Sino-foreign joint education programs at undergraduate and master’s levels.

It began admitting and training international students in 1995 and has educated more than 4000 students from over 20 countries, including South Korea, Japan, the United States, Russia, Nigeria, Vietnam, Türkiye, the Philippines and Uganda. They have studied Electrical Engineering and Automation, Architecture, International Economics and Trade, Accounting, Business Management, Marketing and Chinese Language. Categories include Chinese language training, exchange, preparatory study, Chinese-taught and fully English-taught undergraduate degrees, and master’s study. It offers an undergraduate Chinese Language program and four English-taught undergraduate programs: Electrical Engineering and Automation, Computer Science and Technology, Civil Engineering, and International Economics and Trade. It is approved by the Ministry of Education to receive Chinese Government Scholarship and Liaoning Provincial Government Scholarship students and has several government scholarship programs, including the Special Scholarship for China-Russia People-to-People Exchange.
