Dalian Polytechnic University

Founded in 1958, Dalian Polytechnic University is located in Dalian, Liaoning. Led by engineering, it coordinates development across six categories—engineering, science, art, literature, management and economics—and specializes in training professionals in light industry, textiles, food and arts. It has educated more than 60000 graduates of various categories. It has 3 first-level doctoral degree authorization fields, 1 postdoctoral research station, 14 first-level master’s degree authorization fields, and 3 professional degree categories: Master of Engineering, Master of Fine Arts, and Master of Agriculture. It has 5 Liaoning key disciplines, and 3 first-level disciplines have been recognized as Liaoning university first-class distinctive disciplines.

It has 15 schools and departments, 50 regular undergraduate programs and 2 international joint education programs. It has more than 15000 full-time undergraduates and over 1600 postgraduate students. It is qualified to admit Chinese Government Scholarship, Liaoning Provincial Government Scholarship and Silk Road Scholarship students. It receives over 500 international students of various categories annually and has received a cumulative total of more than 3200 in recent years.

It has nearly 900 full-time teachers, including 1 member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, over 400 professors and associate professors, and over 400 doctoral and master’s supervisors including external appointees. Following the internationalization of higher education, it has developed exchange and cooperation with more than 90 universities in over 40 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Japan and South Korea. Activities include faculty and student exchange, research and international academic conferences. It runs undergraduate 2+2 and 3+1 programs, postgraduate 2+1 and 1+1+1 programs, combined bachelor’s-master’s programs, short-term exchanges and government-sponsored overseas study with renowned universities including the University of Southampton, Iowa State University, the University of Queensland, Ritsumeikan University and the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. Since 2011, it has offered joint undergraduate programs in Visual Communication Design and Fashion and Apparel Design with the University of Southampton, expanding its international cooperative education.
