Anhui Medical University

Anhui Medical University is a provincial key university jointly developed by national ministries and the province. Founded in 1926, it has accumulated a rich historical heritage through years of effort. In the 21st century, it upholds its motto, “Study Diligently and Act Practically to Cultivate Good Doctors,” its ethos of “Truth, Excellence and Innovation,” and its proud tradition of “loving the country and its people and dedicating oneself to human health,” working toward a high-level teaching and research university.

It has over 15700 students, 16 directly affiliated teaching units, 30 undergraduate programs and specializations and 6 directly affiliated hospitals. It has 2 first-level doctoral disciplines, clinical medicine and pharmacy, and 26 second-level doctoral authorizations, as well as professional doctoral authorization in clinical medicine. It has 10 first-level and 59 master’s disciplinary authorizations and 3 postdoctoral research stations in pharmacy, clinical medicine, and public health and preventive medicine. Over the past 5 years, it has undertaken over 420 projects under programs such as “863,” “973,” the National Science and Technology Support Program and the National Natural Science Foundation. In recent years, its number of National Natural Science Foundation project approvals has led Anhui’s provincially administered universities. It is also the only provincial university in recent years to receive recognition in both China’s Top Ten Scientific and Technological Advances and the Ministry of Education’s Top Ten Scientific and Technological Advances.

The university places great importance on international student education. It provides single and double rooms with bathrooms, water heaters, air conditioning, televisions, refrigerators and internet access. It has a Muslim dining facility, shared international student kitchens and laundry rooms, and has renovated seven classrooms specifically for international teaching and self-study. These services reflect its international management and service standards and have been recognized by students. It has 407 international students from over 40 countries across five continents. It was authorized to admit Chinese Government Scholarship students in September 2013 and began admitting them in 2014, with 7 recipients from countries including Cabo Verde, “Longdi” as written in the source, and the Bahamas.
