Lanzhou University of Technology

Lanzhou University of Technology is located in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu Province. It is jointly supported by the People’s Government of Gansu Province, the Ministry of Education and the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, and is a participating institution in Gansu’s high-level university development initiative. It has been selected for the Project for Basic Capacity Building of Universities in Central and Western China, the National College Student Innovative Experiment Program and the Ministry of Education’s Excellent Engineer Program, and is a school with distinctive national defense education.

The university has two campuses covering 2307 mu. It has 19 schools and 1 teaching and research department, as well as a graduate school and a Wenzhou graduate branch. There are 31401 enrolled students.

The university offers 9 disciplinary categories: engineering, science, management, economics, literature, law, education, medicine and the arts. Four disciplines—engineering, materials science, chemistry, and environment and ecology—rank in the top 1% worldwide in ESI. Materials science and engineering has been selected for the national first-class discipline breakthrough project for provincially administered universities. It offers doctoral degrees in 6 first-level disciplines, master’s degrees in 25 first-level disciplines, and 63 undergraduate admission programs. Thirty-four programs have been selected as first-class undergraduate programs under the Double Ten Thousand Plan, 19 have passed engineering education accreditation, and it has 20 national first-class undergraduate program development sites and 6 national distinctive program development sites.

The university is strengthening external exchange and cooperation and actively serving the Belt and Road strategy. It has partnerships with more than 40 universities in countries including the United States, Russia and the United Kingdom. In 2020, it was approved to establish a Confucius Institute at Vinnytsia National Technical University in Ukraine. It is a member of the Belt and Road university strategic alliance, a participating institution in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University project, a member university of the China–Africa University Alliance exchange mechanism, and a member of the China–Arab Universities 10+10 Cooperation Plan. More than 500 international students from 47 countries currently study at the university.
