Chang’an University is directly administered by the Ministry of Education. It is a national Double First-Class university, one of the first key national Project 211 universities, and an institution under the Project 985 Innovation Platform for Advantageous Disciplines initiative. Located in Xi’an, an ancient capital with thousands of years of history, it has northern and southern campuses and three major teaching and internship bases at Taibai Mountain, Liangshan and Weishui.

It has a complete education system spanning bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees and 25 schools, departments and centers. It has 13 first-level doctoral degree fields, 4 professional doctoral degree categories, 34 first-level master’s degree fields, 21 professional master’s degree categories, and 9 postdoctoral research stations, supporting academic pursuits at different stages. Seven disciplines rank in the ESI global top 1%. Engineering ranks in the global top 1‰, while Environmental Science and Ecology, Materials Science and Geosciences rank in the top 3‰.

As one of the first institutions designated by the Ministry of Education to admit Chinese Government Scholarship students, it is a pioneer in China’s educational foreign assistance. Since receiving its first international students in 1956, it has educated more than ten thousand students from 118 countries and regions, creating a setting where diverse cultures coexist and interact. Drawing on leading disciplines in transportation, land and resources, and urban and rural development, it has created a varied, high-quality international talent training structure and tailors development pathways to international students’ individual needs.

It builds bridges for international exchange with an open outlook. It has established a Chinese Language Center (Confucius Institute) at Villa College in the Maldives, leads a talent training alliance in transport infrastructure involving China and the five Central Asian countries, and participates deeply in the World Transport Convention (WTC). It works with leading enterprises such as China Road and Bridge Corporation, China Communications Construction and China Railway to advance a Going Global partnership program. It has partnerships with more than 180 universities and research institutions in over 30 countries and regions, providing international students with abundant exchange and practical opportunities.
