Which CSCA subjects do I need to take?

Start with the general CSCA rules below, then confirm the exact subjects and paper languages required by your intended university and major. A subject appearing in the test catalogue does not automatically make it compulsory for every applicant.

What does the official general guidance say?

Application route	Required subjects in the published general guidance	What else must I confirm?
Undergraduate programs under the Chinese Government Scholarship	Mathematics and Professional Chinese.	The appropriate Professional Chinese category, and whether Physics or Chemistry is required by the university and major.
Undergraduate programs outside that scholarship route	Mathematics; Professional Chinese is mandatory for Chinese-taught programs.	Any additional subjects, Professional Chinese category where applicable, and program-specific requirements.

This table follows the official CSCA introduction collected on 18 October 2026. Check later notices and your university’s current admission requirements before registering.

How do I choose Professional Chinese?

The test has Humanities Chinese and STEM Chinese. The university and major determine which category applies. Do not select a category solely because a program title appears to sound like humanities or science.

Can I choose the paper language?

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry have Chinese and English papers. Confirm which language your intended university requires. Professional Chinese is tested in Chinese.

What should I ask the university?

• Which subjects apply to my program, admission year and funding route?
• Which Professional Chinese category, if any, must I take?
• Which paper language is accepted?
• When must I submit the results, and which test sessions are accepted?
